The case I ordered was for a side by side storage, I received a top and bottom compartment case. Not sure if the description needs to be updated but am happy with the case. It is a little taller than expected being a top and bottom compartment, if you are using existing measurements to find an available spot something to be aware.

I have a 22 Marlin with tube fed magazine in one compartment and a 410 Winchester single shot shotgun in other compartment. The foam keeps both weapons secure in the case and the latches keep it all tight

Let me begin I value the case I purchased and for the cost it serves its purpose, however if your wanting a rugged rifle carrier for luggage etc... this may not be a good fit. The latch closures are not robust enough to make it through airline luggage handling that is for sure, and care must be taken when handling this in and out of the truck. I am speculating a good bump against a solid structure could potentially cause the thin plastic case to crack. Otherwise, the case is lightweight and then the addition of 2 rifles makes it a good choice weight wise. For this case to enable me to move 2 rifles in the same case makes all the difference to me. I am happy with my purchase and the case is a good protector of my rifles, scopes, etc..., foam is thick, pin type channels keeps the case covers in position.
